Photo Series with Annika and Vahla
In gratitude we share Sunna with long admired creatives who inspire us through their art and expression. A space for celebrating connection, love and everyday magic with family and friends.
Annika lives in Australia with her husband Odin Wilde and daughter Vahla. Together they founded JANE magazine; a slow art movement considering and challenging the dialogue around creative intention and consumption. We are so thankful to you Annika for sharing with us these beautiful words and moments in time (captured by Odin - dream team!). A gentle reminder to be present and to find joy in the everyday. So much love to you all xxx
Goodbye to all that
I'm trying to feel your heartbeat on my chest
Through the back of your body.
We're laying in the bath and I can't believe your feet nearly touch my knees.
Stretched out and splashing.
You're chewing on your toothbrush, the one we half-heartedly try to practice using.
And I'm letting you play with it because for a moment we're still
Together.
I want to breathe with you a little longer before you rush off.
In and then ex
Hale.
Taste life twice you do.
Into everything busy busy
Busy.
Taking the world by twos.
And it's all from the mouth, like moments were made to be sweet or sticky on the gums.
There's a fly buzzing around that I haven't been able to get out of the house
Yet.
It's been just us two for the last two days and the heat keeps rising so we've kept all the windows shut.
It must have come in yesterday when we got home from the pool.
I wash the chlorine out of your hair while you're still lying on my chest
And show you your duck—
A final manoeuvre to idle the momentum.
Once we're done I place you on the mat so I can get our towels.
Feet first.
You're standing.
I used to have to lay you flat.
Change.
You.
The seasons too.
It's still hot out but we can feel the blue nights coming.
Your second winter.
And then we're leaving.
From the home where you were born.
Goodbye to all that and the versions we grew
Into.
Going back home
To the ocean.
Where the sky will still be blue
And where I'll still show you the moon each evening.
Just like we do tonight
And like we've always done.

'The aspects of yourself and your artistic expression that you were courageous enough to bring through by accepting them yourself have been accepted by the world. You have captured the dream. You are deemed worthy. You now have the raw materials, basic set up or opportunity you have wanted to enable yourself to continue into higher levels of expertise. Take it all in.'
